It is an honour and a pleasure to welcome you to the 72nd Conference and Annual General Meeting of the South African Museums Association.
I’m sure that many of you were at last year’s conference in Maropeng. If you weren’t, you’re here because somebody alerted you to the possibility that this year’s conference may just be the most exciting – but also the most challenging ever. So I stand here very bravely to introduce the issue of secret and sacred heritage in an African context.
